What happens?
If one of the Lenze software products mentioned above is installed the installation program crashes. The installation dialog indicates that the last action executed was the installation of the PhoneDirSettings.ini file.
When does the problem occur?
The installation program of Lenze software products may crash if the Lenze communication software (e. g. CAN drivers) has been installed on a FAT partition of the PC hard disk but the WINDOWS operating system is located on an NTFS partition of the PC hard disk.
Possible diagnostics?
None.
Short-term measures/recommendations?
The problem can be avoided by installing the Lenze software directly on the NTFS partition where the operating system is located, too. Another possibility it to convert the FAT partition into a NTFS partition. Regarding this, it is important to know that MS DOS programs which are installed on the FAT partition cannot be executed under NTFS.
General information:
Nowadays the NTFS file system is the latest technology development since it provides a lot of advantages compared to the FAT and FAT32 file system. Computers equipped with WIN 2000 and WIN XP are preferably using the NTFS file system. Older PCs equipped with WIN 98 may still use the FAT or FAT32 file system. Moreover, MS DOS applications require a FAT file system.
Evaluation:
Under the conditions described above it may happen that the installation program of Lenze software products crashes and that due to this circumstance the software cannot be installed.
