What happens?
Although the compiler has not generated an error message the following error message may be indicated in the message window of the PLC Designer when downloading the project after the retain data has been extended:
Out of retain memory
When does the problem occur?
The memory space which can completely be used for RETAIN variables is only available after execution of the menu command Build>Clean all.

Short-term measures/recommendations?
Execute the menu command Build>Clean all before downloading a project but after you have declared the variables in the RETAIN data range.
Evaluation:
If the PLC project is extended by RETAIN variables an error message may occur when downloading a project. The project can be downloaded without problems after execution of the menu command Build>Clean all.
