What happens?
Due to a configuration error, the EtherCAT master does not change to PreOperational.
When does the problem occur?
PLC Designer V3.5 and higher is equipped with the 'Autoconfig Master/Slaves' checkbox on the 'Master' tab of the EtherCAT master.
If this checkbox is not activated, settings requiring e. g. knowledge of the controller's memory layout have to be selected by the user. Faulty settings will lead to a configuration error in the EtherCAT master. As a result, the EtherCAT master cannot change to the PreOperational status.

Short-term measures/recommendations:
Activate the 'Autoconfig Master/Slaves' checkbox if the checkbox is not checked in the standard setting.
Evaluation:
PLC Designer V3.5 and higher features a new checkbox in the EtherCAT master. If the checkbox is deactivated, the EtherCAT master may not change to PreOperational. When the EtherCAT master is inserted, the checkbox will be set correctly.
