Error message "Error importing project" when opening projects (corrected from V3.14)

Corrected from:
PLC Designer V3.14

Response of the new version:
Projects created with the Global Drive PLC Developer Studio or PLC Designer V2.x can be opened and edited with PLC Designer V3. Since PLC Designer V3 does not contain the target systems and the libraries of theses development environments, error messages will appear when the projects are opened. These error messages can, however, be ignored. After this, the project will open and the logic can be edited.

What happens?
When opening a project, a dialog with the following error message appears:

The specified project could not be loaded...

The following message appears in the message window:
Error importing project: Object reference not set to an instance of an object

When does this behaviour occur?
The error message appears if PLC Designer V3.9 or higher is used to open a project created with PLC Designer V2.x.

Which products are affected?
PLC Designer V3.9 and higher

Short-term measures:
Use a PLC Designer version lower than V3.9 to open and save projects created with V2.x. After this, these projects can also be opened with PLC Designer V3.9 and higher.

Evaluation/recommendations:
To migrate projects created with PLC Designer V2.x to the new Lenze controllers and PLC Designer V3.x, it must be possible to open the projects created with PLC Designer V2.x with PLC Designer V3.x. Due to this function restriction, these projects cannot be opened with PLC Designer V3.9 and higher. Due to the variety of functions of the new controllers, in most cases, projects are newly created and not migrated.
