VisiWinNET development - standard runtime: Language switching - maximum number of project languages has been increased
Function extension: VisiWinNET language switching: The maximum number of project languages has been increased to more than 200.
Background: The project files for projects for the VisiWinNET standard runtime are saved in a Microsoft Access database. Since the texts have so far been saved in text format in the database, this file format entails restrictions for the VisiWinNET language switching function. In an Access database, the text format size is limited. For this reason you cannot add as many languages to a project as you like. The maximum number depends on the contents of the text columns. You can add at least 4 languages and, in general, you can add 10 to 15 languages.
When is the maximum number of languages reached?
New language-specific texts are no longer displayed in the VisiWinNET language switching function.
When importing texts with the VisiWinNET translation manager (see Start menu), the "Data set too large" error message is displayed.
Remedy: Starting from version 6.5.3, the runtime system also supports the "memo" format for language-specific texts in standard projects in an Access database. By changing the data type for the text columns, the limit value for the number of languages in VisiWinNET standard projects can be substantially increased (usually < 200). The "VisiWinNET - Convert project data" program (VisiwinNET.ProjectFileConverter.exe) can be used to convert the data type for language-specific texts from "text" to "memo" format and vice versa. The program can be found in the Start menu under: Programs --> Lenze --> VisiwinNET 2005. More information can be found in the Help for the"VisiWinNET - Convert project data" program.
