Improved PLC Designer operation

Function extension:

PLC Designer operation has been enhanced as follows:

  • Breakpoints are reactivated after performing a reset
When setting a breakpoint online in the PLC logic, it will be reactivated after performing a 'Reset warm' (menu 'Online>Reset warm') or a 'Reset cold' (menu 'Online>Reset cold').
  • In the simulation mode (menu 'Online>Simulation'), the watchdog set for tasks is automatically deactivated. In this way, the poorer runtime behaviour in the simulation will not lead to a task overflow and consequently to an exception.
  • Separate windows, such as programming language editors, do not close when changing between online and offline mode.
  • Value representation in the programming language editor can be changed
When opening the context menu in the programming language editor (declaration or implementation) by clicking on the right mouse button, you can change the representation of variable values via the 'Display Mode' command and switch between binary, decimal and hexadecimal.
  • 'Go To Definition' command opens POU instance in online mode
In online mode, the POU instance whose instance name has been selected in the editor can be opened with the menu command 'Browse>Go To Definition'. The POU instance no longer needs to be selected via an additional dialog. The menu command works in the ST, CFC, LD, FBD and IL editors in POUs, actions, transitions, and global variable lists.
  • Signals in the trace configuration (Trace object) can be copied, cut and pasted by command (using the 'Edit' menu or the context menu). In addition to the variables, the display settings defined for the signals will be copied and pasted as well.
  • Improved sorting function
    • The cross-reference list (menu 'View>Cross Reference List') can be sorted by a mouse click on the headers of the columns.
    • If the tabular view of the declaration editor is active, the variables can both be sorted offline and online by a mouse click on the column headers.
  • Filter and search function in device editors
The 'xxx I/O Mapping' tab in the device editors has been expanded to include a filter and search function. This allows you to filter the I/O mapping by inputs and outputs.
