What happens:
The start of the VisiWinNET Standard runtime is no longer possible.
The VWEManager. log file contains the following error entry:

When does this behaviour occur?
After installation of one of the following security updates, a VisiWinNET visualization of runtime type Standard is no longer started on the PC.
Windows10:
- 1709 - security update KB4056892
- 1703 - security update KB4056891
- 1607 - security updateKB4056890 (OS Build 14393.2007)
- 1511 - security update KB4056888 (OS Build 10586.1356)
- 1507 - security update KB4056893 (OS Build 10240.17738)
Windows 8.1
Windows Server
- Version 1709 (Server Core Installation) - security update KB4056892
- 2016 - security update KB4056890
- 2012 R2 - security update KB4056898
- 2008 R2 - security update KB4056897
It is not certain that the problem with the VisiWinNET Standard runtime also exists on each of the mentioned operating systems.
Which products are effected:
For all VisiWinNET Smart and Professional versions only Standard runtime is affected.
Short-term measures:

As a workaround the file "VisiWinNET.CfgAccess. exe", contained in the zip file "VisiWin-Windows Security Update KB4056892_EN. zip", must be copied into the corresponding VisiWinNET installation directory (e. g. C: \Program Files (x86)\VisiWin\VisiWinNET 2005\Common).
With this update, the VisiWinNET standard runtime can also be operated with one of the installed security updates (see above).
The file is version spanning and can be used for all VisiWinNET versions.

We cannot generally recommend uninstalling security patches from Microsoft.
However, to ensure the operation of an installation or to test a necessary further development, the Microsoft update can be uninstalled.
Please note that Windows security updates are automatically reinstalled depending on the operating system version.
It may therefore be necessary to disconnect the computer from the Internet.
Evaluation/recommendation:
Microsoft published an update to close a security vulnerability on January 03,2018, which causes considerable problems with many program packages including VisiWinNET.
If this security update is installed, the VisiWinNET Standard runtime cannot be started.
The development interfaces VisiWinNET Smart and Professional are not affected themselves. All projects can still be opened and edited.
Only the execution of a project of runtime type Standard is not possible.
VisiWinNET projects for Lenze EL100/p300/p500/32xxC devices use the CompactCE runtime and are not affected.
The same applies to v800 projects that use the Compact runtime.
