i700 double axis: Wrong motion node type

What happens?
  • The motion axis reports the following error: ErrorID: 20510 (= Switch on not possible).
  • The motion axis cannot be controlled by the controller.
  • The controller controls the wrong i700 motion axis.
When does this behaviour occur?
The above-described behaviour may occur with an i700 double axis when the motion node of an i700 is updated or copied and used to overwrite the motion node of another i700 in the PLC Designer project.
The corresponding axis of the i700 double axis is accessed via the motion axis type:
  • Axis A: Type 'i700_ETC_Motion_Axis'
  • Axis B: Type 'i700_ETC_Motion_Axis_B'

The above-described behaviour will occur if one axis or both axes of an i700 double axis is/are of the wrong type.

Which products are affected?

PLC Designer V3.0 and higher

Short-term measures:

After copying or updating an i700 motion node, check the node type. The type can be found in the device tree in brackets after the name of the motion node. If the type is not correct, correct it by updating the motion node.

Evaluation/recommendations:
After copying or updating the motion node of an i700 double axis, the controller may no longer be in a position to access the two axes. An applicative solution is described under 'Short-term measures'.
