Response of the new version:
What happens?
When creating a new project, the following exception occurs:
Project could not be created:
The options file '...' could not be loaded. (Cause: Root element is missing...)
When does the behaviour occur?
The exception described above occurs when an option file created by the PLC Designer is empty or defective. User-specific settings are stored in option files.
The behaviour has so far only been observed very sporadically when the PLC Designer is installed in a virtual machine.
Which products are affected?
PLC Designer V3.23
Short-term measures:
Delete the option files in the directory:
C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Roaming\PLCDesigner
Evaluation / recommendations:
Due to a defective option file, an exception occurs when creating a new PLC Designer project. Uninstalling and reinstalling the PLC Designer does not solve the limitation because the option files are not deleted when uninstalling the PLC Designer. An application solution is described under Short-term measures.
