What happens?
When compiling older PLC projects with Ethernet/IP, the following compiling errors occur:
C0032:  Cannot convert type 'Unknown type: 'TYPE_ID.SEQUENCED_ADDRESS_ITEM'' to type 'WORD'
and
C0046:  Identifier 'TYPE_ID' not defined

When does the behaviour occur?
The behaviour occurs when PLC projects created with a PLC Designer version < V3.24 and containing an Ethernet/IP adapter in the device tree are compiled with the current PLC Designer version.

Which products are affected?
PLC Designer from V3.24

Short-term measures:
  • Uninstall the library 'CommonPacketFormatInterfaces V4.2.0.0' from the library repository of the PLC Designer (menu 'Tools'>'Library repository').
or
  • Update the entire PLC project (controller, compiler, ...; menu 'Project'>'Project environment').
Evaluation / recommendations:
With the current PLC Designer versions, projects that were created with an older PLC Designer version can no longer be compiled. An applicative solution is described under Short-term measures.
